This backyard project was a fun challenge to bring calmness into a yard with disparate elements such as: a prominent shed, long waiving stone retaining wall, angled Ipe deck, and aging board-on-board fence. By changing the fence to a cedar horizontal one, the entire yard started to fall into place. By adding new exuberant planting beds with trees to anchor the shed and soft plantings to show-off the beautiful stone wall, the backyard turned into the serene oasis the homeowner had wanted.
